Shagbark Hickory

These 1 year old bareroot seedlings are grown from seeds originating from Twisted Tree Farm. Shagbark hickories are cold hardy trees with delicious nuts and a columnar growth form which is great for landscaping. They are slow to grow from seed but are beautiful at all stages of growth. 

In the Western Catskills, shagbark hickories are relatively rare, being found mostly in floodplains and valleys, but to the South and East they are much more common due to a combination of soil and climate factors. They will grow in most soils given ample sunlight.
